Recreational – Middle League
Welcome to, or welcome back to, the Friday night Middle Rec League! This is a fun league, meaning that the competition is friendly, not serious. It’s a great way to start curling, brush up on rusty skills, or simply get more practice. And it’s a great way to socialize with friends and make new ones.
Our league is open to Youths, Adults, and Seniors, singles and couples. Over the course of the season, we play 4 rounds of 5 games each, followed by end of season playdowns, and the Day of Champions, where our league champions play against other league champions. Generally we mix teams up after each round, but if you’d prefer to play with the same folks, just let us know. (Typically couples are kept together.) We also do our best to mix up the games so you play as many opponent teams as possible.
One aspect of our league that is different from others at the Club is that we are flexible if you can’t attend for a night or a longer period because of other commitments, travel, etc. All we ask is that you let us know in advance so that we can make the necessary adjustments.
In addition, we have an optional prize pool ($10/person for the entire season) which is used for prizes (of wine and money) in each round and at the end of the season. We also play progressive euchre about once a month after curling, which is quite popular and lots of fun.
IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE LEAGUE, when you register please fill in the “Notes for League Admin” field on the registration form to let us know if there is a person you want to be paired with (for the purpose of making teams) and what position (Lead, Second, Vice or Skip) you’d like to play. We’ll do our best to accommodate position preferences.
We are in touch with all the registered players in the league by email before play begins, and throughout the season, to keep everyone informed of status and events, so please include your email when registering.
We look forward to seeing everyone for another great year of curling!
